Blondie was formed by Chris Stein and Deborah Harry in 1974. Clem Burke (drums), Jimmy Destri (Keyboard), and Gary Valentine (Guitar) joined in 1975. In late 1976, blondie recorded their first album. In early 1977, the bands first album Blondie, was released on Private Stock, later to be released on Chrysalis. Between the release of Blondie and the groups second album in 1977, Plastic Letters, Gary Valentine was dropped and Frank Infante (Guitar) and Nigel Harrison (Bass) were brought on board. In 1978 the bands biggest album, Parallel Lines, was released, selling over 20 million worldwide and getting them their first US #1 hit, Heart of Glass. Eat to the Beat, the bands 4th album, was released in 1979. In 1980, the band created Call Me, a song featured on the American Gigolo soundtrack. Call Me went on to be the biggest song of 1980, getting Blondie their second US #1. Autoamerican, which spawned 2 US #1 hits for the band (Rapture and the Tide is High), was released in 1980. In 1982 the band released The Hunter, Blondie's last album on Chrysalis. The Hunter did worse then planned, and after an illness Chris encountered, plus the band growing apart, Blondie decided to call it quits. That is until 1999, when the original four, Chris, Debbie, Clem, and Jimmy, returned to the studio to create the reunion album, No Exit. The album included the hit Maria, and jumpstarted Blondie. In 2003, the Curse of Blondie, the group's 8th studio album, was released overseas. The Curse of Blondie will be released in America on Sanctuary Records April 2004.
